PAGE UPDATES:

Added nos. 2511, 2624, 2636 on 09/03/20.

ABOUT THE BUSES:

Muni entered into a lease arrangement with Mack to receive seventy C-49-DT buses per year, returning each group after six years to receive a new group of buses. This began in 1955 and ended 1960. The fleet was returned to Mack after new buses began arriving 1969, but 5-6 buses were sold to private owners and 2230 is owned by Muni and was restored in the late 2010s. A few of the coaches were cut down for use on the 39 Coit line, where the reduced length would allow them to circle the drive under Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill.
