ABOUT CAR 26:

Car 26 was formerly numbered 526 and built in 1890 by Ferries & Cliff House Railway. The book Maybelle the Cable Car by Virginia Lee Burton depicts car 526 going through the changes in the cable railway system of the 1950s; this has earned 26 the nickname Maybelle.
