Home Updates Mystery Trips GMC Old Looks

General Motors TDH4512 originally purchased in 1958 by Sacramento Transit Authority. Later owned by Unitrans, who donated the coach to the Pacific Bus Museum. 128 was later decorated in a livery reminiscent of Market Street Railway and lettered for Niles Coach Lines. Operated by American Stage Tours, it connected Niles Canyon Railway trains to parking lots on the other side of the tracks. The service operated 2006-2013.

On September 27, 2008 the Pacific Bus Museum sponsored an excursion tracing some of the old Greyhound commute routes (B, C, and F) that used to operate between San Jose and San Francisco. Bus 128 resembles many of the GMC transit buses Pacific Greyhound used in California starting in 1939, especially the TDM5103 and TDM4801 paired-window models of the 1950s. I participated in the excursion and recorded some of the scenes we encountered on the trip north.

If you ever need a true transit historian, just call on Mr. Jim Husing. He's written numerous articles about transportation and has served as president of the Pacific Bus Museum. Jim did a great job as tour guide as he described the former depots and their neighborhoods along the Peninsula. Photo originally added 9/28/08 and moved to this page 11/25/19.
