The annual Caltrain Holiday Train, a specially decorated set of engine, gallery cars, flat cars, and caboose, operated December 7-8, 2019. I went to see it on the 8th at the Menlo Park station. At each stop, Santa Claus and his companions (a reindeer, elves, a snowman) walk along a set of railings greeting folks who attend. Families are prevalent. A Marine band performs holiday carols, and donations are accepted for Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army. Santa disappears into a gallery car and reappears on the rear platform of the caboose to wave goodbye as the train departs. I took photos along both sides of the train, including Santa on the caboose. After the departure, I took a few pictures of SamTrans buses on Oak Grove Ave. and on El Camino Real.
