Mystery Trips 2025
Started the day by going for Sacramento RT light rail pictures, beginning with the Blue Line
between Cosumnes River College and Watt/I-80. Wandered a little until I found its crossing at
Fruitridge Rd. Stayed a while for northbound and southbound trains, made up of high floors in
the 100s and 200s. After breakfast, drove up to Arden/Del Paso Station, where I continued with
more Blue Line photos. Then, I looked for a place along the Gold Line (Sacramento Valley to
Historic Folsom), settling for Folsom Blvd. and Mayhew Rd. near the Tiber Station. This route
uses the new low floor 400 series cars. All three locations were selected because they offered direct sunlight
behind me, with one car length between overhead line poles at Arden/Del Paso; the other sections were
at least two car lengths between poles. Cars 101 and 401 are among the fleet numbers.
Incidental buses passed by and were photographed.
As I was driving to Arden/Del Paso Station, I came across a cutaway van still wearing
StaRT paratransit livery of Stanislaus County. Of course, they now go by StanRTA. The van
was parked at a private community center and behind an iron fence. I passed the camera phone
through and took two pictures.
Decided to cut away from Sacramento in the afternoon when I had my fill of light rail shots.
Saw on Pantograph that SolTrans was operating two battery electric buses on the Benicia school
tripper routes 15 and 17. Made it with time to spare and yielded BYD 4502 on the 17 and
new Gillig 4605 on the 15, both at East Third St. at East Military. Did additional pictures
of the BYD on East Second St. and E. Tennys Dr.
Saw on Pantograph that County Connection was running Gillig trolley bodied 1601 on the 4 Broadway
Plaza shuttle, so I stopped at Walnut Creek for that. Left for home afterward.
Nikon D5600 and Samsung Galaxy A16 5G cameras yielded 438 photos.
